Local election campaigns in Germany: council, mayor and Landrat
We run campaign communication for local elections (Kommunalwahl) in Germany: city and district council, mayor and Landrat candidates, and voter groups. German websites, portraits and short films, social media and print, planned around the calendar and rules of the candidate’s state.
Different calendars and rules in every state
Local elections in Germany follow state law: the election date, the length of the term, the voting age and whether mayors are elected on the same day as councils all vary from state to state. EU citizens living in Germany can also vote in local elections. Expected upcoming dates: Schleswig-Holstein in spring 2028; Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Hamburg’s district assemblies in spring 2029; North Rhine-Westphalia in autumn 2030. These dates are not yet fixed; each state announces the exact day.
Example: North Rhine-Westphalia
The last local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia were held on 14 September 2025, with run-offs for mayors and Landräte on 28 September 2025. Since 2020, councils, mayors and Landräte there are elected on the same day; the term is five years and the voting age is 16. The integration council is elected on the same day; see integration and foreigners’ council elections.
Communication by type of candidacy
- City and district council candidates: recognition at neighbourhood level; portraits, a short introduction video, a neighbourhood leaflet and social media, with one visual language when several candidates share a list.
- Mayoral and Landrat candidates: a campaign for the whole town or district; candidate film, short topic videos, event filming and a campaign website, with a possible run-off planned from the start.
- Lists and voter groups: list identity, candidate introductions and a shared website for independent voter groups (Wählergruppen).

Related experience
In Turkey we produced 51 campaign videos for Yakup Törk in the Darıca 2019 and Dilovası 2024 local elections; in Germany we built the German website of a state parliament candidate in North Rhine-Westphalia. We bring the project videos, field filming and same-day editing of local campaigns to German local elections, in German.
Filming in Germany, production in Gebze
We plan filming and meeting days in Germany in blocks. Design, editing, websites and social media are handled by the same team in Gebze. German copy is written by German-speaking team members and approved by the candidate’s team; Turkish versions and subtitles can be added on request.
Approval, rules and neutrality
Every visual, film, post and page is approved by the candidate or campaign team before it goes live. Party design guidelines are followed where they exist; compliance with election law and data protection (GDPR) is checked by the candidate’s team and legal adviser. We do not give legal advice; we provide a commercial service to the candidate who hires us and express no political views.
