Types of corporate promotional film

The type of film is chosen by what you want viewers to do after watching it. The types we make most often are:

  • Corporate promotional film: tells who the company is, what it makes and who it works with; the core film for the website and presentations.
  • Commercial: a short, focused story for a single product, shop or campaign. The 2-minute 37-second film we shot in the showroom and shop for Bellona Piranlar is of this type.
  • Production process film: shows how a product is made, from raw material to dispatch. For facility and industrial-zone work, see our factory film page.
  • Event film: a launch, dealer meeting or celebration. The 59-second film we made for TMS Industrial Refrigeration’s New Year celebration is an example.
  • Short social media film: vertical or square short edits that get to the point in the first second.

What does a promotional film add to sales and communication?

A promotional film shows in a few minutes what a written presentation struggles to explain: the scale of the plant, how the team works and the setting in which the product is used. The sales team uses the same film at the first meeting, in quote emails and on the trade fair stand. HR cuts a recruitment video from the same footage; website visitors get to know the company before they call. Getting this much use out of one shoot depends on planning the shooting day properly from the start.

Script and interview plan

The script is the backbone of the film and goes to you for approval before the shoot. It contains the scene order, on-screen text, voice-over copy and interview questions. Managers and staff who will be interviewed see the questions in advance, and there’s a short rehearsal on the shoot day. Our team writes the script; if you have a draft, we work from that.

Film length and short versions

The length of the main film depends on where it will be watched: a film shown in a meeting is not the same length as one seen while scrolling social media. So in most projects a main film and short versions cut from the same shoot are planned together. The short versions are edited from the main film’s footage and usually do not need a separate shooting day. The number and length of versions are agreed at the first meeting. Details of editing, colour and sound are on the post-production page.

Interior filming, drone and motion graphics

In a promotional film, interior footage, aerial shots and motion graphics complement each other. Drone footage shows the location and scale of the facility or shop; interior footage tells the story of the people, the product and the process. Motion graphics make figures, maps and process diagrams readable. Which elements appear in the film is decided in the script; in the Bellona Piranlar film, indoor drone footage was at the heart of the story. Details on the drone filming page.

Music, voice-over, subtitles and usage rights

Licensed music is used in the film; the scope of the licence (web, social media, television, trade fairs) is chosen according to where the film will be shown. The voice-over can be in Turkish, English or German; subtitles and motion graphics are separate items. Each of these is shown on a separate line in the quote, so what is included is clear from the start.

The promotional film shooting process: six stages

At stages that need approval (script, first cut and final cut), the output goes to you for approval.

  1. First callWe discuss the film’s purpose, audience and the channels it will run on; the need for versions is set here.
  2. ScriptThe scene list, interview questions and shooting plan are prepared and sent to you for approval.
  3. ShootingThe camera, lighting and sound crew shoots at the planned locations, with a drone if needed.
  4. EditThe footage is edited, colour-corrected and mixed; music and subtitles are added.
  5. ApprovalThe first cut goes to you for approval. Revision rounds are done up to the number stated in the scope.
  6. Delivery and publishingThe main film and short versions are delivered in web, YouTube and social media formats.

Frequently asked questions about corporate promotional films

How long should a corporate promotional film be?

There’s no single right length; it depends on where the film will be watched. The main film for presentations and the website is longer, and social media versions are shorter. For example, the ANKAŞ commercial runs 1 minute and the Gebze Güzeller OSB facility film 8 minutes 2 seconds.

Do you write the script?

Yes, the script is written by our team and presented for your approval before the shoot. We get the technical information about your company and the topics you want to highlight from you at the first meeting.

How many revision rounds are there?

The number of revision rounds is set according to the scope of the job and stated in the quote. After the first edit, your notes are collected in one list; each round goes ahead with a clear list of changes.

Who holds the usage rights for music and voice-over?

The scope of usage rights for music and voice-over, meaning on which channels and for how long they can be used, is set at the quote stage and shared with you on delivery.

Can we update the film later?

When a new product, line or branch is added, the film can be updated without reshooting it from scratch. New scenes are shot and added to the existing edit.

Do you help the interviewee prepare?

Yes. The questions are shared before the shoot, the main points of the conversation are agreed and there is a short rehearsal on the day. The aim is not memorisation but for people to explain their work in their own words.
